Bella

Eduardo Verástegui, Tammy Blanchard, Manny Perez,
Ali Landry, Angélica Aragón, Jaime Tirelli, Ramon
Rodriguez, Lukas Behnken
Director:
Alejandro Gomez Monteverde
PG-13 for thematic elements and brief disturbing
images. 91 mins.
If you disliked dark films Like No
Country for Old Men and There Will be Blood watch
the refreshing Bella.
A slice of life film leaving you high on hope that
tragedy can be redeemed. The story follows Jose,
played by Eduaro Verastegui, and Nina, played by Tammy
Blanchard. Jose is a simple man
whose
complex
troubles and compassion drive him to Nina.
Losing her job she hits bottom of an already
complicated life and finds herself facing a life
dilemma.
The film contrasts Jose’s tragic meltdown through unexpected circumstances with Nina’s dead end which resulted
from wrong choices. How they work out
their destiny may be seen as God’s hidden hand
moving them to redeem life through the wisdom
of new choices and love.
This film fosters hope and tackles real life problems
with answers that are more holy than politically
correct.
With no profanity or sex, a short segment of light
violence qualified this film for PG-13.
The acting is very good and the film gives the
refreshing feel of new filmmakers. Highly
recommended.
